Deepak has been a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area for 23 years. He started learning Tabla at the age of 12 in Delhi. He was trained by Ustad Sher Mohammed Khan of Delhi, who was the disciple of the maestro Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirakwa. Deepak also trained briefly with Pandit Swapan Chaudhri at the Ali Akbar College of Music. He recorded his first Tabla solo on All India Radio (Yuva Vani) at the age of 16.
He is a software product manager by day and lives in Milpitas.
